The small, economy version now available in Germany is below $5,000 and that means auto insurance is much cheaper, not to mention all the other savings. No gas, 70% less maintenance, mile for mile it is less than 25% of a standard gasoline car. Not the time for luxury land yachts in these times.

  1. That car looks like it might be wrecked in the picture. I’m not sure though. The picture is very small.

  2. Yes, and the slightest of accidents will leave you badly injured if not dead. I’ll transport my kids more safely, thank you.

  3. Did you know there was an abundance of electric car dealerships until the manufacturers mysteriously started to recall them all?

And by the way, these types of cars and smart cars have rigid steel-caged cabins to prevent serious injury in the event of an accident.

  4. Yes those are great for city errands but on the highway you are in trouble…I already did my research and bought a Mazda 3 7 months ago…I won’t get killed by a truck in it…good gas mileage and speed…

  5. Electric cars aren’t even an option worth looking at until they can drive 300-500 miles on a charge and then be recharged within about 3-5 minutes maximum. Until then they can’t replace regular cars.

For the most part if an electric fits someone’s needs then they should use public transportation instead and eliminate the need for a car at all. I’m sure one day battery technology will get even better, but I don’t know how they will ever solve the problem of recharge time. Then there’s the unknown impact on the power grid that plugging in 300 million vehicles overnight to charge will have.

  6. Yes, they have electric golf carts too. How come people don’t drive them or is that what is pictured in your question.
