What happened? I lived there from 04-08 and car insurance was reasonable. What changed? Spiking car insurance rates could be a dealbreaker
This is not about responsibility, it's about the law firms lobbing power to get laws that benefit them
Auto insurance in Nevada has more claims because people come from all over and drive like from where they come from: Punitive Damages also increase claims, the carrier that has high losses, meet the rate to the risk. Risk revelation for Las Vegas
I been in this industry for 30 years and see so many carriers changing now and ask more questions about coverage or a real local agent …
Thanks for this video! I actually think holding people accountable is a good thing. Too many idiots driving recklessly, however, There really should also be a strict law with stiff penalties for people who go out of their way to make false claims of injury in order to receive this double payment. This law will and surely has created many exaggerated or outright false claims.
I pay 470$ for a 2003 chevy im 23 why. 🙁
Yikes, I have a house in Escrow now there. Been talking to my insurance agents and ya, still a little bit more than LA and I though we had the worse drivers. Glad I will be saving money in other areas! Hope to see you around Vegas! I will be filming some of my Travel show out and around Vegas as well!
Maybe 2 million peeps living in LV, but add in another 3 million visitors at any time.
Wow, I have learned some important information. Thanks. I stopped driving in 2000 due to cost of insurance in San Francisco, CA and constant broken windows from the Smash and Grab folks. This compensation clause is confusing to me. Glad you broke it down on the simple. Thanks Jacob.
Insurance is so expensive because legislators were lobbied by!?? Insurance companies! You jackasses you did to us and made a hardship on poor people…. How many accidents do YOU see a day? I call bullshit! Nevada laws are corrupt Nevada is staying in business because they gladly lock up poor or as in my case disabled. Fuck nevada. If i had a choice id move to cuba… But I agree you hurt someone should pay… but not if you haven't and not been caught for driving with no insurance you should not. Many people could go get jobs if it weren't for the hardship placed on them for reinstatement fees etc… Shame shame on you nevada
If we don't have car accidents the insurance companies they will be just collecting money some how they have to pay back from all the millions they make.
Let's say you had insurance for the car too. Not a gift. It makes sense because you would be paying for the cost of someone else's bad driving. Insurance is to protect you and it did. You got made whole. You planned ahead to cover a lose you couldn't cover out of pocket. The person who caused the damage didn't make your monthly payments. How you protect yourself from losses and loss of money by you because of someone else's bad driving are two different things. Look at this way, what if you had saved money every month just incase something like this happened. You would be out 30K. I do think that the insurance companies that covered your loss should be able to do the sueing and get the money back but must keep your rates down. This story you told doesn't take in account pain and suffering. You did go to the hospital and have a 20K bill so you must have been injured bad. What about future problems that may not go away because of this accident? You can't just cause an accident and walk away with no financial responsibility just because someone has insurance or saved up money to cover something like this. Good job state of NV!
What happens if the person you double sue who is at fault has no money and can't pay you a dime. Then what?
Great topic!
Car accident cases have jury trials? Very interesting..
Great video!
I like this rule. Here in Los Angeles, CA is the no fault law when you get into an accident. You get injured, your car is totaled and you are inconvenienced because of the negligence of another person especially when they run through a red light. Wish they have this in CA. Forces drivers to be more careful and responsible.
I sell auto insurance and you are spot on! Plus don't forget to mention that prices go by zip codes too.
Great blog mate I am glad live In Australia after hearing this stupid law because of double payment all about lawyer profits, … should only sue if was so severe negligent and need $$ .. no double payment …..we all make mistakes…. states that have this law making it all of the states people to get insurance .. stupid ask me….
Wow
Is everything is far do people need to take buses or train
