I was involved i car accident with the other driver taking the blame. My car is damaged and the other drivers insurance company will be contacting me regarding my car. What should I ask them? I am planning to ask about a hire car, who will repair my car or declare it a write off, can I claim for travel expenses whilst without my car and also is it okay to continu driving my damaged car before it is assessed by them. Year, make , model, extent and area of damage? The other party’s insurance should pay for a rental…best not to drive the car if the damage causes it to be unsafe or can cause further damage. Total loss is usually when repairs would exceed 70-80 percent of actual value of the car.
Discuss what repairs need to be done, any parts other than OEM that will be used, any betterment involved on wearable items, guarantee on repairs, qualities and expertise of the repair shop, diminished value if your state allows that, any possible long term or post-repair problems that may crop up and need to be supplemented.
If answers are not acceptable, you may want to go through your own insurance and let them go after the other party.
