  1. Back when everybody and their neighbors had a funny car or dragster sitting in their driveways. It was quite common to see 30-40 of each at a local strip, and drag racing was still actually interesting.

  2. Thats my uncle mike's funny car! i always asked him questions about it but never got this deep of the history behind it! this is such an awesome quality video and you definitely got yourself a new sub as well! thank you for making this a true part of history to live on the internet forever!

  3. My name is Scott Finlay. You just did a story on my Fathers funny car. The tequila sunrise. I have some more interesting facts about that car. I actually drove that car when i was 15 and 16. After that i got a Alcohol dragster which you will see in the picture of the two cars together doing maintenance in the pits. Im the kid with no shirt on. There are too many stories to tell here but you can contact me at info@scottfinlay.com

  4. That Sapporo Challenger body wasn't an Iverson. It was built by Ken Cox with a lot of help from Ken Veney. The Iverson "Wedge" bodies came along a couple of years later.

  5. I absolutely love the the funny car's I grew up watching them race!! I have never understood why they went away from them other then the safety issue of possibly not being able to get out of it in a bad crash with fire but there are tons of ways to fix that and I'm sure someone did use a break away roof or something of that nature . Pro mods are neat but not nearly as fun to watch or look at as the funny cars !!

  6. I will be watching this a few times, it may take a minute to remember some of these names. I ran at Quaker City Dragway and my dragster was painted by the Wizard.

  7. You said Tom Finley went missing and then they sold his estate … I take that as he had died was the reason he didn't continue the next racing season?
