Hi, I’ve been shopping around for auto insurance lately trying to get the best deal I can find. I’ve been getting quotes online. I’ve notice that when I do get a quote, I get a recommended package and I can also choose other packages that are more expensive or less expensive. Of course I would like to pay for the cheaper package but of course it’s less coverage. So my question is what is a good amount of coverage I should get for bodily injuries ($50,000 or $100,000) and so on. Oh and I drive a 2007 Honda Civic Si sedan and I am 22 years old and have been driving for 3 years with a clean driving record if that helps.

Do you own a home? Are you married? Typically if you’re a home owner you’ll want the 100/300/100 liability coverage. If you are just a poor college student with no assets and you don’t own anything of significant value I’d suggest a little less coverage like 15/30/25.
Get the most for what you can afford. I’d go with 100/300/100 or similar, because in the future, other companies will give you a better rate for the higher liability limit you carry now. If you just carry what’s required by your state, you could hurt your insurance standing in the future. Best premium tiers for people usually are those who have had insurance for at least 4 years (continous coverage, no lapses) and those who carry liability limits of 100/300/100 or better. Of course, a clean driving history and a good credit score help out a lot too.
