Good points. i would add the related point that whole life is easier to manage. IUL companies are improving in service to guide policy adjustments, but more is needed. See my blog for recommendations http://lifegoesonconsulting.blogspot.com/
you forgot to mention the rising cost of insurance in UL… ie. if the insured lives past age 90, the policy will eat up all its cash value and lapse….
